Healing begins with having a space that is truly yours.
—Areas of Focus
If you're feeling sad, overwhelmed by stress, struggling with past trauma/hurt, facing challenges in your relationships, finding it hard to cope with grief, uncertain about your life's purpose, dealing with personal/racial trauma, or simply sensing that something is preventing you from reaching your full potential, then I welcome the chance to talk with you to start you on a journey toward hope, healing and wholeness.
Hi, I’m Dr. Ford-Johnson.
—My Philosophy
I believe in promoting wellness through a healthier mind — and that belief is not just my mission, it is my passion, my purpose, and the reason Mental Fitness Group exists. Mental health is crucial for life success. When your mind is well, everything else — your relationships, your work, your sense of purpose — functions better.
—Mental Fitness Approach
I take a mental fitness approach to therapy rather than simply treating symptoms. I believe lasting healing means intentionally strengthening all four dimensions of who you are — emotional, physical, financial, and social — because each one directly affects the others. Just as you train your body at the gym, mental fitness is the ongoing practice of strengthening your mind — so that healing is not just something that happens to you, but something you actively build, one session at a time.
—My Therapeutic Approach
With over 15 years of clinical experience, I provide a warm, supportive environment where you can openly share your experiences, examine your thoughts and feelings, and learn practical strategies for lasting, positive change. I specialize in evidence-based practices, which are proven methods to help individuals navigating anxiety, depression, stress, relationship challenges, work-life balance, grief and loss, chronic pain, and the mental health effects of chronic stress. My goal is not just to help you cope — it is to help you build the inner strength to truly heal, grow and thrive.
